Activities around town:

• There are beer gardens and BBQ along the west side of Wulie River (near Dutongfu Lu) in the summer. Ice skating is possible at several locations on the river during the winter.
• Hiking is possible in many of the hills surrounding Chengde, including those near the train station.
• There are night and weekend markets throughout the city. Ask for more information.
• Chengde also boasts a movie theater (films are usually in Chinese), numerous karaoke joints, and a few clubs. Ask for more info.
  

Getting to the Great Wall:

• We can arrange a private car to take you to Jinshanling Great Wall (other sections may also be possible), wait for you, and return to Chengde. Plan about 6-8 hours total for this trip. Price: 550 rmb/car.
